...a medical procedure would require us to be out of state for 6-8 weeks.   As fate would have it, the timing of such a procedure was to occur during February and March, the majority of tax season.  For a tax preparer, this could not have been more inconvenient.  My assistant and I considered many alternative to complete the 150 tax returns I prepare each year in addition to the other aspects of my business which include financial and investments advice as well health, life and disability insurance.  

   Maybe technology was the answer.  So, I called Expetec of Barnegat... we met at my office and they surveyed my equipment and analyzed exactly what needed to be accomplished... My assistant was skeptical and I was hopeful that it could work. 

   We tested the process several weeks before I left and everything seemed to work smoothly.  I could even move files from the computers in the office in NJ to the laptop and back again, although the plan was that I access my computer in the office from my laptop in Nebraska to keep the files in one location.   I am writing this from Nebraska.  The system Expetec of Barnegat set up for me is working better than expected.  The tax returns are being completed timely and everything is working just like was explained to us.  If I have hurdles, I can e-mail their office and they will either e-mail or call to resolve the concern.  They can even access my laptop remotely in Nebraska from NJ, if necessary, to walk me through any set-up issues.    Expetec of Barnegat saved tax season for me and I am very thankful for their professionalism and expertise.
